Below are some frequently asked questions.

Q: Who can submit ideas?

A: Anyone can submit ideas. Everyone is encouraged to do so.

Q: Who can apply?

A: Anyone can apply, but each proposal must have the support of a Commonwealth Government agency, demonstrated by an email or letter of support from the head of the agency. NOTE: Any proposal without support from the head of the sponsoring agency WILL NOT BE CONSIDERED FOR FUNDING.

Q: On what criteria will applications be judged?

A: You can learn about selection criteria here or by downloading the request for proposal and proposal form.

Q: Is there an opportunity to have a dialogue with the PIF Staff, Board or Advisory Panel?

A: Yes, dialogue is welcome. Respondents are encouraged to seek out more information in support of the response. Contact us to get the dialogue started. As part of the dialogue process, suggestions for improving responses may be given to respondents by staff.

Q: Will the idea or proposal be regarded as confidential?

A: In accordance with the Virginia Freedom of Information Act, all data, materials, and documentation originated and submitted to the PIF, pursuant to the RFI, shall belong exclusively to the PIF and be subject to public inspection. Therefore, do not submit any copyrighted, proprietary or confidential information.
