About the Productivity Investment Fund
Mission
Our mission is to partner with Virginia agencies to identify, catalyze and implement innovative solutions which enable a simpler and more effective government for the benefit of the citizens of the Commonwealth.
Organization
The Productivity Investment Fund (PIF) is a collaborative effort of the Secretaries of Administration, Finance, and Technology. The oversight board that makes funding decisions is made up of the three Secretaries and also includes the Chief Information Officer of the Commonwealth, the Chief Applications Officer, the Director of the Department of Human Resource Management, the Director of Planning and Budget, and the Director of the Council on Virginia's Future as ex offico, non-voting members.
Process
The Board reviews and approves all projects for funding from the Productivity Investment Fund. Funding from the PIF is available both as grants and loans. If a project funded by the PIF is designed to create a cost-savings then there is an expectation that the fund will be repayed to facilitate future awards. Projects with purely customer service or performance goals can be awarded grants that do not require repayment. Learn more about the submission process. »
Selection Criteria
The Board's goal is to create a balanced portfolio that includes a range of projects that cover some or all of the three main criteria for adoption:
- Lower operating costs
- Reduce constituent service transaction times
- Advance key performance goals as published on the Virginia Performs website (www.vaperforms.virginia.gov)
